This year, The Void's starting locations were: Columbus, GA, Bowling Green, KY and Harrisburg, PA. We chose Columbus, Georgia. Everyone finished in Lynchburg, VA. We started at 10:00 am on a Friday and finished up at 1:30 pm on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, VA. We rode a total of 1,155 miles on our route. It rained on us all night long, starting north of Savannah, GA and ending in Fayetteville, NC. Near Yemassee, we walked around the Old Sheldon Church Ruins in the dark and rain searching for a hand pump. Karen thought it was pretty creepy. In Georgetown, it was pouring down rain as we take a picture of the clock tower. We did take a 4 hr. break a few miles just down the road. The next morning, we rode to the Elwell ferry, but approached it on the wrong side of the river. Luckily, it was during business hours, so we rode the little ferry across the river to get a picture of the memorial sign and back across the river to continue on our route. We ended up in Lynchburg with 10 min. to spare! These long distance rallies are very challenging and a lot of fun.
